FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Waterford Museum to Host Free Volunteer Docent Training Workshop
The Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center needs volunteers to
serve as docents. Docents are trained volunteers who share their passion for local history as they lead tours through the Museum and explain the various
displays to Museum guests.
According to Museum Director, Brad Utter, “Docents are very critical to the
Museum’s success, and the need is even greater as we continue to increase our hours.
Docents are our ambassadors to the visitors from around the region and the world.”
In order to keep current docents up to date with new exhibits and
procedures and to welcome and train new docents, the Museum will be hosting a free volunteer docent training workshop for anyone interested in serving
as a guide for the Museum. The training will include information on the exhibits, museum procedures, how to present the information and how to
effectively interact with guests. There is no experience necessary to participate in the docent training workshop.
Both sessions will be held at the Museum, 2 Museum Lane in Waterford. The
first is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12th at 9:30 a.m. and the second session
is scheduled for Saturday, June 16th at 9a.m. Participants need only to
attend one of the sessions. Please contact Docent Volunteer Coordinator, Amanda Massie, to register for the workshop at 238-0809 or
via email.
The Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center is located in the 1830
Hugh White Homestead on Museum Lane in the Town of Waterford. The Museum offers various programs and exhibits year round.
For more information about the Museum and its programs please contact the Museum at 238-0809.
