Eddy Valve Oral History Project

This autumn the museum plans to launch a small oral history project aimed at collecting the memories of those former employees of the Eddy Valve Company still living and willing to share their experiences of working there.

As many museum members and Waterford residents know, the operations of the Eddy Valve Company and its predecessors spanned over a hundred years of the community's history. The museum's collections include several selective examples of the type of valves the company's employees manufactured and distributed across the country. Additionally, the museum library contains a few catalogs and a limited number of company records.

Significantly absent, however, is information about the people whose skills, talents, and labor the company's operation in Waterford depended.

With your help, this project will endeavor to begin filling that informational void. If you once worked at Eddy Valve - or you know of a former employee still living - please fill out the form below or call the museum (238-0809) and talk to Brad Utter. Naturally, one of the first tasks necessary to begin the project is determining how many former employees remain in the area and are interested in participating.

This project will be conducted by University at Albany PhD candidate Paul Schneider. All records will be kept for education - research purposes only.

If you are interested in participating in this project, please fill out the form below and send back to the Museum. Please pass this on to anyone who you feel might be interested. Mail to: Waterford Historical Museum, 2 Museum Lane, Waterford, NY 12188
